Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
Brown butter is the secret ingredient in these incredibly chewy, gooey chocolate chip cookies. A guaranteed crowd pleaser that elevates the classic.
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter (to be browned)
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp flaky sea salt
- 1 cup packed dark brown sugar
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs, room temp
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chunks
Instructions
- Brown the Butter: Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Swirl constantly until it foams and turns a deep amber color with a nutty aroma. Transfer to a bowl and let cool slightly.
- Dry Ingredients: Whisk the flour, baking soda, and salt together in a medium bowl.
- Wet Ingredients: Add both sugars into the browned butter and whisk until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla.
- Combine: Gently fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Fold in the chocolate chunks.
- Chill & Bake: Chill dough for at least 30 minutes. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Scoop 2-tablespoon balls onto a baking sheet. Bake for 10-12 minutes until edges are golden. Top with flaky sea salt.
